Filming Diary

Friday 8th October 2010
On friday 1st October 2010 we decided on our location for filming a tattoo being done, we phoned up a local tattoo studio and asked if we could film there a week later. We went to the tattoo studio Well inked on Friday the 8th of October 2010. We spent two hours there, from 2 until 4oclock. This gave us plenty of time to set up our equipment and film. While we were waiting for our subject to arrive, we filmed vox pops. We mainly focused on filming the shop in general, it was very interesting and was filled with items for halloween; which added greatly to the mise en scene. We wanted to particularily film examples of tattoos, unfortunately some could not be filmed as it can be seen as plagarism. The subject that we planned to film did not turn up so instead the tattooists husband volunteered to get a tattoo especially for us. We filmed the tattoo being done first, this was so that the interviews would be retrospective and would link to our questions. We spent 30 minutes filming the tattoo, and got some good footage from it. We then filmed the tattooist, we filmed her on the tattoo chair as we felt this would add irony to the documentary. She was a great subject to film and was very detailed in answering our questions. We then filmed her husband, we asked him a couple of questions and had to prompt him at times as he was not as detailed.

We filmed at this location:

Thursday 21st October 2010
We filmed at our local museum. A week before we decided that it would be interesting to include some historical facts to our documentary, i then e-mailed and got in contact with a historian from Warrington Museum with knowledge on tattoos. He agreed to let us interview him. So on thursday the 21st of October we went to the museum at 1 oclock to film him. He was very detailed in his answers and was very professional.

Wednesday 10th October 2010
There was only two of my group in, mysef and Leanne. We decided that we would film more for our documentary, perhaps reactions of people when they saw examples of tattoos. This was a good idea and we got great footage to include in our documentary.

We filmed at:

Thursday 16th December 2010

On the 16th of December we decided to film the target audience feedback, as we wanted to see what the audience would think of our documentary. Sophie filmed the audience feedback, where as I asked the questions. We made sure that i was behind the camera when asking the questions, so that the interviewee would be looking off camera.

Editing

After recording our footage the first thing we had to do is capture the footage in order to put it on the timeline to edit it.
